“On behalf of Venezuela, we, your brothers and sisters, congratulate the brave nation of Belarus, with whom we have established genuine cooperation and solidarity, forged in the spirit of both our peoples’ histories of independence, courage, and dignity because we have decided to be free, sovereign, and antifascist,” the Bolivarian leader said.

According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Lukashenko secured 86.82 percent of the votes in Sunday’s elections. He has become the European leader who has been in power the longest, as his first term began in 1994.

“It is a decisive and significant victory that reflects the will of Belarus, which, without hesitation and overwhelmingly, re-elected brother President Aleksandr Lukashenko,” Maduro commented.

During a press conference held in the context of the elections, Lukashenko emphasized the significance of relations with Venezuela, noting that they are considered one of the most important achievements since the time of Commander Hugo Chavez. “We have built tractor factories, car factories, brick factories, entire cities, and towns as Hugo Chavez requested. So, we absolutely do not want to lose Venezuela, and we support these relations,” stated the Belarusian president.

“Recently, our government delegation visited Caribbean countries, including Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba. In other words, we have areas where we will continue to develop what we have started,” Lukashenko added, highlighting a desire to advance in joint and sustainable growth with his strategic allies in Latin America.

The Belarusian president also expressed his intention to strengthen relations with Brazil, noting the country’s interest in various Belarusian products. This focus on regional integration and establishing trade connections is key in a global context where strategic alliances are imperative to tackle common challenges.

Russia Highlights Lukashenko’s High Political Authority

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin also congratulated Lukashenko on his overwhelming victory, noting that the Belarusian leader had promised his first international visit would be to Russia.

Lukashenko used the slogan “Me or chaos” for his electoral campaign, emphasizing his compatriots’ interest in peace and security in the country.

“The convincing victory in the elections clearly demonstrates your high political authority, as well as the undeniable support of the population for the state course being followed by Belarus,” said Putin.

“These were absolutely legitimate, well-organized, and transparent elections,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated, adding that Russia would not pay attention to “voices coming from the West” attempting to delegitimize the election results.

China Ready to Deepen Relations with Belarus

On Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Lukashenko on his re-election for a new five-year presidential term.

“I am ready to work with President Lukashenko to continue the traditional friendship between the two countries, deepen bilateral cooperation, and thus better benefit the peoples of both nations,” he said, highlighting Lukashenko’s contribution to developing bilateral relations.

“Political trust has continued to strengthen. I attach great importance to the development of relations between China and Belarus,” the Chinese leader noted.
